Whitewater Rafting in Oregon is fun for the whole family!
Harlan and his family on a 3 day Lower Klamath Rafting Trip.

Family Rafting Trips

Rafting should be included on every family vacation. Let us do all of the work while you have the fun! Whitewater rafting is family fun for groups as small as 4 or large family reunions! Imagine the kids howling gleefully as the raft crashes through the rapids. Or see their excitement when they get to be the paddler in the front of the boat! Crash through the rapids, jump in the river and take a swim, see the ospreys soaring above, spot turtles basking in the sun, or just soak in the sun. At Kokopelli River Guides we have trip options to entice any family with young kids, older kids, and kids at heart.

  • Small group trips or family reunions
  • We'll do all the work
  • You sit back and relax
  • Experienced, professional guides who love to play!
  • All river gear included
  • Delicious snacks and lunches

One of our favorite rivers for the family rafting and kayaking is the Klamath River. One stretch of this river is the Tree of Heaven section. This trip features warm water and playful rapids. You can take a half day or full day trip with mild whitewater that is suitable for even the youngest of kids. Run the rapids, swim, play, spot wildlife, and just have lots of fun! Kids 5 and under are free!

Kids love what they can discover while on a river trip.

Another section of the Klamath River is known as the "Lower Klamath River". We offer 2-5 day trips and for many families this is their first introduction to whitewater rafting and kayaking. Ride the rapids with names like Rattlesnake and Dragon's Tooth. Camp in your own tent or sleep under the stars. Play frisbee and bocce ball on one of the sandy beaches that we camp at. Spend quality family time together while your kids learn about the great outdoors. Kids as young as 6 are welcome on this trip.

Perhaps one of our favorite sections of the Klamath River is the Upper Klamath. This challenging Class 3-4+ section of river is more difficult than the Lower Klamath. It could possibly be the hardest rafting trip your kids have ever been on. You and your kids will be thrilled with rapids with names such as Caldera, Bushwacker, and State Line Falls. You'll be smiling from ear to ear while the waves crash overhead! Hoots, hollars, and laughter echo through the air when little Johnny gets a face full of water. After all, he is the lead paddler in the front of the boat! The Upper Klamath is appropriate for kids age 13 and up.

Kids rafting trips on the Rogue River, Oregon.
Kids love to go rafting!

Last but certainly not least, one of our favorite family rafting trips is the Rogue River "Nugget". If you and your family are short on time this is going to be the trip for you! Just a short drive from Ashland and Medford, Oregon, the Rogue River offers exciting whitewater, calm pools for swimming, and solitude even for a little while. We're on the water for two hours on the "Nugget" trip and the whole trip is about 4 hours round trip from Ashland. This is one of our most popular half day rafting trips. We know this because we have guests come back year after year. The youngest children we take on this trip is 8 years old.

So if you are ready for a family vacation that will get the kids off the computer and away from the video games and will bring you closer together, experience what rafting can do for you and yours. Laughter always brings you together!
