THE BEST IN THE WEST!

In the middle of summer, rafting on the river doesn't get any better than this! Most rivers in the United States are dried up from their spring runoff in July and August. But not the Upper Klamath! The UK, as it's fondly known as, has plenty of water to spare throughout the summer because of scheduled water releases from John C. Boyle dam.

We begin our full day trips in Oregon just downstream from John C. Boyle dam. Before we get on the river for some whitewater action we fuel you up with a delicious continental breakfast. Once we get you geared up in a life jacket, booties, and helmet our professional guides will give you a safety talk before we head downstream.

Our one day trip starts out with 5 miles of warm up on class 2-3 rapids before we enter the heart of the Upper Klamath canyon. This allows for plenty of time to practice paddling skills with your team. Once we enter the heart of the canyon you'll be challenged with rapids with names like Caldera, Branding Iron, Satan's Gate, and Hell's Corner. After a relaxing lunch, the day passes by while we float across the Oregon/California border at State Line Falls. The trip isn't over yet since there are many more exciting rapids ahead and plenty of calm pools to swim in. You'll see why the Upper Klamath is such a popular trip for locals and visitors alike to the Southern Oregon region.

"To the entire crew of Kokopelli. We would like to thank you for a wonderful time on the river last Sunday. The professionalism of your employees, made for a safe yet exciting experience for my entire family."

WILD AND SCENIC RIVER

The Klamath River, starts its journey towards the Pacific Ocean, beginning in Southern Oregon and ending in Northern California. It is located in a remote canyon listed as a United States "Wild and Scenic River". It is a magnificent place to spend the day viewing wildlife. You may see bald eagles, osprey, deer and even wild turkeys on your trip. During the month of August our guides love to stop at "Blackberry Riffle" with their guests to do some fresh blackberry picking. This is always the highlight of any Upper Klamath trip!

SAFETY FIRST

Safety is our number one priority at Kokopelli River Guides. We never run single boat trips on the Upper Klamath trips and mandate that they all include a safety boat, either a kayak or raft. All of our professional guides are at a minimum Advanced First Aid/CPR certified and are also certified in Swiftwater Rescue. Many of our guides are Wilderness First Responders, EMTs, or Paramedics. Because this trip can be strenuous, we also require that you be in good physical condition and at least 13 years old to participate in this trip.
