Ok so we took off to go to Florida- which by the way was nice and warm. I guess we chose the right time to go because from what we heard it was dumping snow in Southern Oregon with at least 8 inches on the ground in town in Ashland. The surrounding mountains have over a 300% snowpack already! It's pretty amazing.
It gets us excited for the summer season and reminds us that lots of snow means lots of water on the Rogue and Klamath Rivers. Even the Cal Salmon will have a better season this year compared to last year which was pretty low. Even the Owyhee River will have a season this year, we hope. Last year the Owyhee season was pretty non-existent. I'm pretty sure it only ran for a couple of weeks.
The snowpack also means that there will be plenty of water sitting behind the dams on the Klamath River and the Rogue River. Hopefully it also means that late summer trips won't have the typical later summer low water. And keep your fingers crossed that it also means no wildfires.
Keep on doing a snow dance that this precipitation will continue for the next few months.
