Talks regarding the removal of dams on the Klamath River have been a hot topic of discussion in recent times. Since the big salmon die off in 2002 on the Klamath River things have really heated up. Tuesday September 29th a historic decision was made to remove 4 dams on the Klamath River including Iron Gate, Copco 1, Copco 2 and J.C. Boyle (which lies just above the Upper Klamath section) beginning in 2020 after more than 100 years of controlling water for irrigation, power generation, and water releases for recreation.
Read more on this historic decision that will effect the rafting communuity.
This photo was taken on the Lower Klamath below Happy Camp, CA that will be effected by the removal of the Iron Gate dam.
