I just watched a video clip on PBS about the plight of the Klamath River salmon. As a river rafting outfitter who runs the Lower Klamath every day throughout the summer, we've become increasingly aware of what bad shape this river is in. The Klamath River becomes increasingly warm and flows lower throughout the summer making it an inhospitable environment for the salmon to swim upstream from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds on the Lower Klamath.
Four dams are scheduled to be removed in 2020, with plans to return the river back to the healthy state it once was.
You can watch the video clip of the salmon's plight here. Journey to Planet Earth.
We love the beauty of the Klamath River and want it to be healthy again!
