River Rafting on the Lower Klamath River

High water, Sunshine, and Good Times

Leslie

We just got back from 4 relaxing days of rafting on the Lower Klamath River. The water was high for this time of year which made travel down the river so fast that we were able to cover more distance. Because of this we were able to do a layover day at one of our favorite camps, Rock Creek. We hiked up the creek a couple of times, Matt fished, the dogs played, and we napped. We also ate way too much food! Isn't that what you do on vacation?

Rapids like Rattlesnake and Dragon's Tooth were washed out and a piece of cake. No scouting was required. Other rapids like Ferry Point were HUGE and a great, fun ride through the Grand Canyon size wave at the bottom!

We watched baby ospreys try to take their first flight from a tree across from camp. It was fascinating and our eyes were glued to the birds. We saw a herd of elk grazing next to the river and otters swimming in the river. The Lower Klamath is such a wonderful place for experiencing nature. We loved that the water was rushing but of course the trip went way too fast. We were sad to have our pre season vacation come to an end but we will be happy when we get on the river this summer with some new friends.

If you are interested in a 2-6 day Lower Klamath river rafting or kayaking trip this summer give us a call. We'll be happy to show you why we love this stretch of river so much!
