Time is running out to reserve a trip because space is limited. The weekend of September 3-6 is getting pretty full and we don't want you to miss out on a river adventure this summer! The rivers still have plenty of water in them so don't miss out this year. Call to reserve your space or you can reserve online. We look forward to taking you rafting and kayaking down Southern Oregon and Northern California's amazing rivers!
Gold Ray Dam Breached this Week2010-08-15 1:08 pmRiver rises to twice its normal level within minutesLeslieHoly moly! What a week it has been. The Gold Ray dam just above the "Nugget" section of river which was in the process of being removed was breached. What does that mean? A sand spit began to erode as the Tolo Slough was being drained as part of the dam removal process. It was scary and exciting to watch since workers and machinery were trapped on an island as water began quickly running downstream. This usually placid section of the Rogue was running wild with huge rapids, logs, and concrete being sent down the river. You can see a slideshow of this unplanned event on the Mail Tribune website. Kokopelli River Guides was temporarily forced to suspend all rafting trips on the Rogue River "Nugget" section until the sheriff's department deemed the river safe for travel. We are now operating river trips on this section of river again and we look forward to rafting with you!
Upper Klamath Raft Trip with Deaf Rafters is a Big Hit2010-07-30 8:03 pmLeslieWhat a great day we had this week on the Upper Klamath River! Kokopelli River Guides had the special honor of taking 11 deaf paddlers rafting on the Upper Klamath! The day was a huge success with smiles all around at the end of the day. The trip was planned by Howie Seago who is an actor with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. Howie is an actor who is deaf and also a whitewater kayaker. Howie's enthusiasm and love for the river brought him to reserve the trip for his out of town friends. Most of his friends that participated in the trip are from Seattle, WA. It was so nice to see the joy in the rafters eyes when they came back from a full day of rafting on this challenging section of river. Howie sent a glowing email review telling us how pleased he was with the day and he will definitely be booking another Upper Klamath trip for next year with Kokopelli River Guides. |
