Rogue River Fishing

Fishing on the Rogue River is an experience not to miss! Along the famous Rogue River you will find half pound steelhead (1-3lb) and salmon. There is a variety of fishing year round on the Rogue in a beautiful setting. The Rogue is home to spring and winter steelhead with the average steelhead size between 4-8lb. Double digit fish are not uncommon in the spring and summer. Spring Chinook salmon, fall Chinook salmon, and Coho Salmon provide big fish (7-30lb). We target them during much of the year.

Klamath River Steelhead and Trout Fishing

The Klamath River below Iron Gate Lake provides drift fishing for half pounder adult steelhead and trout. During late fall through the end of March; this is the best time to fish steelhead on the Middle Klamath. Steelhead are strong acrobatic fish that put up a good fight in the spring when the flows begin to drop and before the water starts to become too warm. The first large annual hatch of stone flies (salmonflies and golden stoneflies) begins. This time of year we fish for 10-15 inch resident rainbows while drifting the river. You can cast out dry flies to the bank or drift fish the riffles where these exciting trout like to hold in groups.

Your Fishing Experience

Your guide, not only takes you down the river fishing safely. We furnish the boat, fishing rods, tackle, flies, bait and lures. Kokopelli guides are extensively trained in first aid, CPR, and swiftwater rescue. Our guides' choice boat is a McKenzie river drift boat. This boat provides a truly comfortable fishing platform during the entire year. We fish two people per boat to give you the best guide to customer ratio and fishing experience. During the cold mornings and winter days the boats are equipped with heaters to keep you warm while waiting for that winter steelhead bite. While on the water, we are equipped with two fly rods between 5 and 7 weights, two spinning rods, and two casting rods giving us the tools to catch fish
